Round 8 ![]() Highlight of today was without doubt the game between Stuart Conquest and Alon Greenfeld. Despite doing quite badly so far Stuart still came out all guns blazing and really seemed to have an advantage at one point? Though the class of Alon Greenfeld also showed with a really tense, tough and exciting battle that had lots of interesting features. Well worth a look and study as both players found really hard in this game. The rest of the games seemed quite uneventful by comparison. Phillip Short never really got out of the opening/middlegame and the vast experience that Alexander Baburin has with this particular variationis very hard to combat. Mark Hebden had a good win against John Redmond in his favorite Kings Indian. While my own game was rather dull and my play was quite lazy today. In the end I had to fight for a draw but that was probably no more than I deserved really Some video clips are available but it is really just for people with fast internet connections as the file sizes are quite big really. The first video plays automatically but the other two are for download. This is best done by right clicking on the link and then "save link as". These are BIG files one is (50 Mb) so be patient!
Conquest V Greenfeld part 2 Conquest V Greenfeld part 3 The games from this round are now thankfully available. for download as pgn files Also See games section for an idea of how this round developed.
